Age of Iron Update
(From a previous meeting with Brian Emery of Berkshire Blacksmiths)
- Sarah and Brian Emery were voted to take care of the food prep at a Berkshire Blacksmiths meeting neither were able to attend.
- Brian suggested getting prices for a pig roast and a catered event for approximately 50 people.
- There will be a specific area for tailgating and product sales near the brick restrooms in the back of the property.
- HSV will provide CDBA with a pavillion tent for the Green Coal setup.
- CDBA is welcome to place a donation can out for Green Coal expenses.
- CDBA will make fliers for this event.
(CDBA notes after hearing the above BB report)
- Andy suggested making "Green Coal" T-Shirts to help identify Green Coal instructors.
- Andy also suggested raffling off a piece of CDBA ironwork to help raise money for Green Coal expenses. (Sarah offered a rose and necklace for the raffle)
- A list of specific items to be made in the Green Coal area should be developed for beginners
- Green Coal should also be a place where more experienced smiths can experiment with the techniques they've seen during the event
- A metal stock list needs to be made
- Coal needs to be aquired.
- An additional meeting in May will be scheduled to keep abreast of AoI developments
- Sarah preferred to go with simple foods (hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken) BBQ'ed for maximum flexibility given that meal attendance is actually unknown
- Andy seconded that opinion and added that he would pick catering as a second choice if the price was right.
