Retail outlet for your creations!

Visit to the NY Folk Lore Society in Schenectady.

May 3, 2015

The Society has a retail store on Jay Street (now a pedestrian walkway) near Schenectady City Hall. I was there today and noted all the very cool local crafts and art work, such as tinsmithing , wood carving, copper smithing etc. However, there were no Blacksmith goodies represented. I spoke to the Gallery Director, Laurie Longfield (346-7008 or www.nyfolklore.org), who indicated that this is essentially a consignment shop with any of the proceeds they make over what you want are used to help support the Society's mission of supporting NY Crafts people through direct support and a wide variety of education and preservation programs, etc. conducted all over NYS. The Society was founded in 1944 and is a significant resource for crafts people as well as other artists. So, I encourage you to make some quality goodies and pay Laurie a visit she is eager to have some blacksmith work to display and sell! The shop alone is worth the visit.
