Glass blowing meet

Phil Sunling, owner of Prism Glassworks in Troy,"blew" us away at Yesterday's Meet

Feb 23, 2015

Mike Catalado hosted this month's meet at his shop and originally came up with the idea of having his buddy Phil demonstrate the similarities of working iron and glass. Phil created for us a wineglass with an anvil worked into it's stem. It was fantastic watching the process and seeing how he uses techniques not dissimilar from those that we use, such as , drawing out, upsetting, tapering, relaxing , tempering, etc. The possibilities of actually working glass into an iron sculpture are endless.

Phil has invited anyone interested to visit his shop/store/school at 225 4th St. in Troy this Friday night (Feb.27) from 5-11PM +- . This is a regular Open House coordinated with Troy's Night Out, which occurs every last Friday of the month. Phil and his team sell a variety of glass pieces and teach glass blowing and creating on site. Check out his web site at: WWW.PGWGALLERY.COM
